I'm planning on getting a decent graphics card for my system in preparation for this awesome City Builder:

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/255710/

And one of my cheaper options is a GTX 750 Ti card from ASUS, however the website of a local store franchise I buy computer related stuff on here seems to have an erroneous catalog.

I know from checking on ASUS's site that this model...

...is indeed a GTX 750 Ti card as referenced here...

    http://www.asus.com/ph/Graphics_Cards/GTX750TIOC2GD5/

However I think they mislabeled this one...

    http://www.villman.com/Product-Detail/Asus_GTX750TI-PH-2GD5

... as a GTX 750 Ti as well even though I can't find a single fan GTX 750 Ti on ASUS's site. The closest I found which also looks kind of the same (based on the pictures) is this one...

    http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX750PH1GD5/

So did the store mislabel the other card or is there really an ASUS GTX 750 Ti card that is single fan only?

I'm really aiming for a single fan only model because I don't think my PSU can handle the required extra power needed to run the card, plus the double fan model is a bit out of my budget.

Also I'm aiming for a "branded", et al trusted manufacturer's card that natively has a VGA port as my old 1440x900 LG LCD monitor just has a VGA port.

    RFE: Addendum:

I know I could probably find better options if I went to the "Computer and IT" Specialty district in the Metro, a place called "Gilmore":

    http://www.ph-commute.com/2008/02/how-to-commute-to-gilmore-it-center.html

But I can't commute to the place easily unless I take a cab, which is too expensive. Also I can't lug my computer in commute for fear of having it get banged up from the crowded commute. I know I can just buy the card and install it myself... but I really can't as I can't see into my compact system case all too well.

I can however buy the card from a store from Villman near my area and have it installed there, which is why my options are a bit limited.

'compact' case? is it not a standard mid tower? If its a sff (small form factor) you will have issues.

Looks to me like the card you're confused about is in fact a GTX 750, not a 750 TI. If Asus don't know about it then there's a pretty good chance the store made a mistake, either with the title or the picture. The TI cards appear to have a secondary power feed on the top edge, whereas the non-TI PCB has a footprint for the connector, but doesn't actually have the connector fitted.

You shouldn't need a native VGA port, almost all DVI cards will come with a DVI-VGA adaptor, if not they can be obtained very cheaply.

what's the rating of your PSU?

    Definitely not a tower, no. But if it's a mid-tower, I'm not sure :-\

But it is near 20 inches tall.

My old case (the one I originally had with my old rig) was wider and taller at two feet tall, but I had to have it replaced when I had my current rig built because the power button on it no longer works properly and the button itself and the surrounding round fitting has been badly corroded.

I don't know exactly as it came pre-installed with the case but it is a 500 watt non branded PSU. I don't even know how many amps it has as well.

its width across the back that matters. it should be around 20cm wide if its a standard (non-sff) case.

20 inches tall is a full tower. Mid towers would be a bit smaller, at around 16 inches (40cm)

    My current case dimensions are:

7 inches wide, 15 inches long and 20 inches high.

And I see 20cm is roughly 7.8+ inches, so I guess I'm screwed then? :p

no it sounds like you have a full tower case. SFF cases are MUCH narrower than standard cases. Like less than half as wide. Should be fine.

    That's a relief then :)

My case isn't fancy like most of you guys have though. I remember Moderasian's case that he posted years back that comes pre-fab with lots of cooling fans which was totally beast as I can not afford those.

Also one other cooling method I once saw on the net which I thought was totally fantastic was one that had liquid nitrogen inside the case. Of course besides the cost something like that may not be readily available here.

its a dangerous substance, it wont work for very long and it's likely to destroy the processor in the process. Not worth it unless you're trying to break an overclocking record.

Finally got my ASUS GTX 750 Ti hooked up and I've also pre-purchased the game. Now all that's left is to wait for four excruciating days :D

    Addendum:

The game looks absolutely fantastic~! :D
