Since I'm new here this may have been covered else where but I wouldn't know where to begin to look. So my quick question is:

Is there away to play GBA ROMs on the same R4 card I use for my NDS ROMs?

I don't wish to buy another card for the GBA slot on my DS light. It would be nice if I can play GBA roms via the the same R4 I use for my NDS ROMs. Thanks!

A lighter version of the original DS

And ravage , no its not possable to play GBA games on a DS though a basic R4 card

But you can however use over emulators like GB,gbc, sega megadrive

The only way is to use a Slot 2 card like the EZFlash 3 in 1 to play GBA games.

These responses answer my question perfectly...thanks guys. I'll just wait and hope Nintendo releases some kind of all star game cart that has all of the metroid game I love and miss.

So far, that emulator only works on the iPlayer because of the extra "horsepower" it has. For any other flashcart, the EV Flash should let you play GBA games.

Yes, the iPlayer can run a GBA emulator. But we are talking about the R4.
I really wish people would stop bringing up the iPlayer when ever anyone asks about running GBA games on the R4, M3, Acekard, etc, etc, etc.

The iPlayer is not the solution to running GBA games from these flashcarts.

exactly, the iPlayer can't play nds games. It's for movies and music...that's it really.

To play GBA on a DSL you need a slot 2 flash cart. Or rather a GBA Flash Cart.

You can use an ez flash iv - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.22019

or better yet, like TirrithRR said, an ez flash 3 in 1 (Recommended). - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2967

I was using the 3-1 but it died and would not save any games. It just came apart inside when trying to change the battery. Are they reliable and was it just a dud that i had. Why has no one got made an gba emulator for the ds yet???

The reason there are no emulators is because most flashcarts in a simplified term "cant support the stress". Too much is needed to run the games from an emulator, just like how certain computers cant run Xeon is PSX emulators because there's just not enough power in their ram. Slot 2 cards are made specifically to house the needed ram and thus give you the normal speed needed to run the game. In a sense the Slot 2 cards are just physical emulators for the games, and because of its tangibility you have to pay the price >.> usually 3-10 USD (still unsure as to why since some s2 cards are shxty) and not worth more than a penny in my opinion

    simply impossible.

the only flash cart that can play ds, gba, and snes games straight off of it is the Supercard DSTWO:
