Mmm, this is such a great debate.

I wouldn't know too much about this list as I haven't watched more than half of these movies (like, all the foreign ones). I'm surprised (500) Days Of Summer is up there, as it wasn't too funny. I can list a million movies that are funnier than Days Of Summer.

And Dr Strangelove definitely belongs up there. Great movie, has one of the greatest comedic actors of all time, Peter Sellers. I'm kinda disappointed that one of the Pink Panther movies aren't up there, but, eh.

Looks like some snob reviewers opinion of the best comedies.  Snob reviewers look for stuff other than the actual comedy to determine what they consider good, like the acting (like that really matters in a comedy) or the plot.

I've got a whole cabinet full of movies funnier than most of what they list there.

I mean come on, Something About Mary, American Pie, no Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler movies are on the list?  Granted, some are foreign films I've never heard of before, but please, some of the ones I do recognize on that list only generated chuckles and not genuine laughs.

The list is a failing failure of failhood.

It's saying what are the best comedy movies of all time, not the funniest movies of all time.

Forrest Gump isn't the funniest movie, but I'd agree that it's one of the best comedies.

Acting can make or break a movie, watch The Watchmen and pay attention to Silk Spectre or whoever that woman is, she utterly destroys the entire movie for many people.

You fail for mentionning Adam Sandler.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights?
Spaceballs?
Princess Bride?

No where on the list...
