M1 board circuit???

i've downloaded pokemon leaf-green and fire-red, but when i press start at the beginning it says:
"The M1 sub-circuit board is not installed" What am i suppost to do now???

I am playing it on a GBA (version 1.6.0.470) downloaded on *read the [rules]*

GBA? And don't you mean *? You're probably using VBA. Use the latest 1.8.

I would guess the error means there is some extra hardware in the game cartridge which VBA is not emulating.

did you download the GBA BIOS File from the links there? If it isn't named gba.rom just rename it, highlight the GBA BIOS file, right click, select rename & rename it as "gba.rom" without qoutes (")
