All of us have more or less played a NES game at some point in our lives, either on a real NES console, through various emulators or with Nintendo's "Virtual Console". But how about replaying the games in 3D? I'm not a tech wizard, so please with my poor description: The emulator is created with Unity and aims to transform/change the sprites into 3D-blocks giving the players a 3D-experience. It's possible to zoom in/out and change the angles of the screen with your mouse. The emulator is in its early stages, so not every NES-game (like "The Adventures of Captain Comic" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Manhattan Project") is playable. While some games are playable, they have a strange mixture of 2D sprites and 3D models (like "Punch-Out!!!"). You can't quick save/load yet and you have to extract the roms from their zip-files before you can play them. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Link to project: https://geod.itch.io/3dnes Features - Participate in the evolution of the 3Dification technology - Play nes games with the true 3D graphic - Play with any resolution supported by your PC, window or full screen mode - Mono or Stereo Sound - Customize the graphic whatever way you want - Share/Get 3dn customization at the 3dn repository
Isn't this the app that works on a browser that became a trending topic some months ago... Also 3D 8-bit graphics is neat
Yes, it began as a Firefox-app but has become a standalone program under development. I've tried it. Apart from the games I mentioned, I've also tried the "combo games" (Super Mario Bros. + any other game). But they don't work well yet. Once it can run more commercial games, I think 3DNes will be really popular.
