I'm using the latest M33 5.00 firmware on a PSP phat, and I've done research but cannot figure out why my PSX game won't run. I've tried going into recovery mode and changing the kernel and whatnot, and I've moved the game file into different folders, but still no luck. I get the same (80010002) error, and occasionally a (FFFFFFFF) error. (Also, I'm aware that the game has to be converted to an Eboot file. I did that using psxtopsp v1.3)

Can anybody please fill me in as to what I'm doing wrong?

    Upgrade to PSX2PSP 1.4.2

The EBOOT (PBP) file needs to be put in PSP\GAME

    Usually like this:
    X:\PSP\GAME\GAMENAME\eboot.pbp

    Did that. No dice.

Have you setup your system to run without the UMD yet?

Reset your PSP and hold the R button. This boots into the Recovery Menu.

    Go to "Configuration ->"
Go to "UMD Mode" and change it to "M33 Driver -NO UMD-"

I believe if you keep it to the default of UMD required, it will fault if it is trying to run a game and there is no UMD.

    That's where it's set already.

I had heard talk of needing a "Keys" file in the same file as the Eboot. I can't figure out what that is, though. Maybe therein lies the problem?

Hmm, I don't have a keys file with my eboots.

    Thanks for the help, btw.

Btw, I know the img file is good because I played it to completion on my PC.

Dumb question, but just to make sure do you have pops loader installed?

    No, what's that?

Install a lot of POPSloader and just google a key.bin for your game (usually hosted or torrent). It's been years since the dawn of the PSX Exploit, so I tend to forget how it worked, but it had something to do with a Key and a Cue file. Those were essential in PSX Emulation. POPSloader also is essential in proper emulation, and I believe it also solved some errors in your case (they seem familiar to me)... Good Luck

You need pops loader in order to play psx games on your psp. That's the reason why you are getting the error

popsloader is not needed to play PSX games. Popsloader is needed to play PSX games if you want to use the POPs from a previous firmware, otherwise you are stuck using pops from your current firmware.

All popsloader does is allow you to choose what version of pops you want to use to play your game.

Popsloader did nothing. I can't figure out why it won't run ANY psx games. In fact, it wouldn't even run "Me and my katamari". Is there something wrong with my firmware or something? It ran Patapon, burnout, lumines, and dissidia just fine.

My firmware is 5.00 M33. Is that the latest or is there better?

...the game files need to be in the folder it was made in.

    Ie

    Your game folder>eboot

If you pull out the eboot and rename it it's not gonna work-gotta be inside the folder it was made in-and that folder's name can't be changed.

The Keys are for psp games and demos from what I seen.

Inside the folder it was made in? Ah, that might be the issue...

Yeah-if it's just the eboot in the games folder it's not gonna work...

It must be in the generated folder.

IE you converted say gran turismo.

    (folder name) GRANTURISMO>(inside folder) eboot

That's the format for psx conversions.

Here is what my directory says.
    I:\PSP\GAME\SLUS01013

Inside that "SLUS01013" file is the game. Is that correct? (Btw, I've tried switching the kernel from "1.50" to "5.XX" and back and used different folders, still no luck.)

Also, when I generated the game using PSXtoPSP it came in that SLUS file.

You haven't renamed the eboot file, have you? It should remain "eboot.pbp"

I'm at a loss as to why it won't work for you though...

That is rather odd, it should work like that unless something has been renamed...

If you were in australia I'd help you directly but... :(

But a quick question-have other psx games worked in the past?
