No, you login and play whenever. A single game can take weeks. Events happen on the scale of hours - it takes a while to move your troops, defeat enemies or build things, so there's a fair bit of waiting. lol
I'm surprised you weren't in from the beginning, since you were the one that was all "it's been six months why aren't we playing Supremacy".
