I still don't have a clue about how to fix the games i use. the folders arent empty anymore, but both games just give me a blank screen.. What am i supposed to do now, im not really getting all those technical terms.. Sorry for being dense/stupid.
OK: Step 1. Get VBA-M here ---> http://vba-m.com/ You need to register an account on there to download the emulator but don't worry registration is free. Step 2. Go on Google and do a Google search for GBA BIOS. Step 3. Find the result that has the word "Paradise" in it (psst~! It's the first one on the very top usually) unless it's second or third on the list. Step 4. Download the GBA BIOS file. Once you have everything post a screenshot here of what you got and wait for further instructions.
Ok after a goodnights sleep from a bad day yesterday, i remember a few things about pokemon games. first of all, visualboy has a few minor issues with background in foggy/myst caves where you can not see the floor well unless you tweak the settings. this is only for ruby, sapphire, and emerald. no$gba doesnt have these issues so you can use that to play it. Also for red team, make sure your save type is set to 128k or it will NOT save. Also i was testing out VBAM without gba.bios. it did play both games Without it just fine. If you having troubles with it. you might be required to update your DirectX and get the latest microsoft framework if you have windows. also windows 8.1 has issues with some emulators, well few people do and there are some forum topics that might help. all in all i hope get playing games soon. *edit Also forgot to mention no$gba allows you to trade your 3rd gen pokemons between all 5 games. GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL.

Ok ill put in the following steps If the program doesnt start, or when you load a game and get a white screen then 2. Go to microsoft website and download the latest copy of Directx(if you get whitescreen), and Framework(most applications need this to run programs) Should after that it still fails to start, which it shouldnt, then you going to have to use google to search for help on the matter. according to vba site it should be windows 8.1 compatible, and for no normal reason why it wont start. BUT if so, you can either try 3.worldwideweb[dot]problemkaputt[dot]de or search google for "no$gba", or even search these forums for it. some post have a downloadable copy of it around here. Now if the unlikely but possible event where you still cant get it to play. 4. go find the smartest nerd you know, drag him/her to your house, make them fix it for you, thank them, and enjoy play games from a distant era. This is the best option of them all, but the most haphazard one. cause if they cant fix it, NO ONE CAN.

ok do me a favor so i know what the issue is. take a screenshot(via printscreen while running vba or no$gba) of three things ill show by example. also make sure you click file cause if not the printscreen will only copy the no$gba screen for the 3rd pict need to see what i am working with so to say.

glad to hear. best of luck catching all what was it 376 pokemons i think. also you can import 3rd gen pokemon to 4th gen games via desmume to keep up the collecting. but just a heads up, no$gba saves are different type than other emulators saves. to play it on VBA or import you will have to convert them. lucky there is a site that will do it for free. should you want to.
As far as I know no$gba uses .sav extension for saves and that's the most common extension for save files.

No$gba uses a compressed sav type unlike the traditional sav type. Its possible to use the more traditional sav that vba uses on no$gba, but to go from no$gba to vba or others requires converting. lucky the online converter at shunyweb is free and easy to use.
There isnt one, you have to manually catch them one by one....BUT there are cheats that let all random pokemon become target pokemon of your choice. Though if you do use it, it only works once and only one time. to bypass this, you can create several saves with pokemon you are looking for and then trade them via no$gba to your main file. FYI dont forget to make several backups just incase. also mew and deoxys cant be controlled if you catch them in the wild sorry to say.
