Anybody who wants or has homebrew on their wii DO NOT update to 4.3 until we release a new way to get homebrew on it. We will be sure to work our hardest to get homebrew back to you. If you update to 4.3 you will lose homebrew and all it's features and you will not be able to get it back until further notice!

Now what new functions shall be here...

Oh and I don't mod, but I'd let those with modded consoles know what's going on.

There is nothing new at all. :p

It is just another futile attempt to stop homebrew.
But there is already a safe-update of it by the beloved Waninkoko. ;)

What are the risks in updating to 4.3b

That is just the safe-update by Waninkoko.

I'm not sure what the risks are.
No worse than updating via Nintendo and probably safer if you have Homebrew as the Nintendo Official updates are known to brick consoles with Homebrew from time to time.

I'm going to run it within the next hour, so I'll let you know what happens.

By the way, research before you update. ;)

This thread had a very clear warning that the new update deleted all homebrew and everything associated with it currently on the console. It does suck, but I'm sure there will be a way to get everything back in working order soon enough.

    Yes, use that method.
I haven't looked into if they have a new BannerBomb or not. :p
I haven't been in the "scene" for a week and a half now, so I missed a LOT!

Also, on a side note...NEVER update via Nintendo.

I updated my Wii via Nintendo to virginize my Wii. Removed all cIOSes, but I still had HBC. I uninstalled it manually.

I don't want to get rid of my Soft-modding work.
I worked too hard on it.

Ok! If you have updated your wii via Nintendo you may use smashstack to regain homebrew. Also if you want to update to 4.3 you can! Go to http://webrewwii.blogspot.com/2010/06/firmware-updater-43b.html
and update via Waninkoko's updater 4.3b.safer than Nintendo and does NOT uninstall any homebrew features or homebrew.
Until we realease more ways this should work for now.

I think it's safe to say that 4.3 is another failed attempt by Nintendo.
I see multiple ways of hacking it so far. :p

Though it may not be the best way to, but it would be fun to experiment with a 4.3 virgin Wii!

Yes! Nintendo did not do good at all trying to stop homebrew infact 4.3 has been the easyest re hackable firmware yet if you ask me. It has been re hacked with in 24hours of release!

    Yeah.

I'm not too worried about it. :p
I could just redo all of my Wii, but that would be too much trouble.
I need a stable wifi connection in order to do Waninkoko's safe update to 4.3.

Haven't turned my Wii on in a while now, so i had no idea there was a new update.
Good thing it's been hacked, and Wanikoko has provided a safe update.
It would of sucked to lose everyhting i've done on my Wii.
Nintendo should stop worrying about Homebrew and focus on getting good games out there, that people would want to buy.
I use my homebrew for a lot of legal stuff, and they have no right to take that away from me.

Actually, they have every right to take it away from you, just like Sony does on their PSP.
You don't own the software. You own the console, yes, but not the software. :p
Plus, you signed a EULA stating that you won't do anything that is against their terms of service rules, which includes software modification.

    Hmmm, good points.
    I am defeated.

But hey. I have my Wii as soft-modded as you can get. LOL

Yes, i have seen you helping others with that throughout the forum.
But yeah, it still sucks that they can do that.
But oh well, it's a war i don't think they can win.At least with this console.

Update!! 4.3 is a thing of the past fully hacked. Nintendo will have to make another update in order to do anything now.
PS. don't tell Nintendo i said that.=D Have fun softModing, emulating and cheating etc..
